Simplicity.

“I’ve seen what yesterday has brought. I don’t what tomorrow brings, or if it will even emerge. But I have today. If nothing else, I have today.”

If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I’m all about sports. You get me started on a sports conversation, we’re gonna be here a while, folks. If it’s a football conversation, pull up a chair, grab an appetizer, and let’s go. But nevertheless, the games are only so fun on a screen. I’ve already been to a couple sporting events this year, and I do not see that stopping anytime soon. So, when someone tells me that they have free tickets to a baseball game, far be it from me to say no.

Now, those who know me know that the Bay Area is my home (particularly, San Francisco), and quite passionate is the term I’d use to describe that attitude. Naturally, San Francisco teams are trained to feel some type of way towards Oakland teams (and vice versa, which is why there are fewer 49ers v. Raiders games on the docket due to the rowdy rivalry). But in the end, the Bay is the Bay. Plus, if we share the Warriors, then how can you hate, right?

Anywhom, we can both agree on one thing.. We’re not LA fans. San Francisco especially (we still remember 2002 and that damn rally monkey.. as well as the Brian Stow incident).. But even if these tickets are for the Athletics, they’re playing the Angels. So it’s #beatla all day and the next.

I’m not even gonna hate on these seats.
It’s nice to end this week with a ballgame. Especially when there’s a walkoff in the 9th. And especially-er when there a fireworks night after the game. Sadly, no pictures (shouldn’t take a phone into a stadium with 30% battery to start with), but I think that on this night, it was refreshing not to be behind a screen. Too often (me definitely included), we lose sight of the magnitude of the event in order to capture it in a 6 inch box. Don’t get me wrong, I take 8,000 pictures to capture the moments. But at that moment, to actually engage with friends to reminisce about old baseball movies (the theme of the night) was something that couldn’t be done holding a phone. Not even gonna lie, when they did the “Angels In The Outfield” tribute, I started waving my hands like an angel a la Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Just the type of silliness that was necessary.

Lil’ sis in the middle got ignored by the team mascot. She will soon convert to being a Giants fan. Good choice.
Sometimes it’s the basic things that make misadventures this memorable. #overandout
