Glad you asked. You probably didn’t. I’ll tell you anyway. I was born on the east coast in the lovely state of Michigan. Lovely for the seasons, since they have them. But shoveling snow in 10 degree weather was not in the cards (nor will or should it be). Made the trek to San Francisco two months after the ’89 earthquake. Great timing, yeah? Been living in Northern California ever since, and it’s been a blue hell of a ride.
Blessed to live here on the fresh West Coast, but one needs to venture outside state lines to actually see the forest for the trees.
There’s a lot that I’ve done and a lot that I’ve been over the past three+ decades. Everyone’s got their unique story, and I am no different. I’ve taken the college route (albeit the scenic route rather than the one by design), changed majors seven times (see what I mean by scenic?), worked while being in school, and finished.
I’ve had gritty jobs, and I’ve had cushy jobs. Each one taught me something new that I can take to the next one (which we all hope to have achieved, right?). My current stop on this journey takes me to the giant cable business known as Comcast. Currently, I’m on the business side of it, so I talk to those in the commercial and industrial sectors. It involves driving and lone-wolfing like I’m used to in these positions, so it’s still in my ballpark. Issa lot of work, and it’s results driven. But hell, what position isn’t? I’ve been able to explore Universal Studios for the price of on the house with Comcast, and it’s helped me reach some goals I’m looking to achieve financially, so I can’t be mad at that.
I’m used to driving.. From the Bay Area to Sacramento, Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, you get the picture.. But what makes me want to travel, and why? Welp, a lot of things have happened over the last few years. And a lot of things didn’t happen. Some things I couldn’t control and some I could. Vague as hell, isn’t it? Maybe I’ll tell you about it someday. But the point is, there are things that I want to do in my life, and this is my way of sharing the story with you.
I’ve been to places in the contiguous 48, but it’s been few and far between. I want more. I’ve been living vicariously through others, and I’ve been promising people we would do X, Y, and Z when A hasn’t even gotten off the ground. I don’t want to see the world through someone else’s eyes unless they’re coming with me. Or I’m going with them. Or we’re going toge… Well, you get it.
California is a great place. It’s been my home since ’90, and it has a great vibe. But there’s so much more out there, you dig? I’m an open book when you catch me at the right time. That usually involves a drink. But since I’m still writing said book, feel free to write a chapter or two, eh?
